The Conference Season is Upon Us

January 18, 2012

CES agents and NRCS staff on organic farm tour at North Pulaski Farm as part of an Organic Inservice Training.

If you haven’t noticed, conferences and workshops are everywhere this year. So much for winter being a “slow” time.  I haven’t even had time to look at my growing pile of seed catalogs yet!  Here are a just few of the things you can do to continue to educate yourself this winter (I know there are more!):

  • This week is the SSAWG conference , with preconference activities starting on Jan 18, 2012 running through Jan 21. We are fortunate to have it in Little Rock this year. This is a wonderful conference to attend –  even the USDA Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan thinks so. She will be having a breakfast talk on Saturday morning at 7:30.
  • Elena Garcia is involved with an organic apple research project in Vermont, called OrganicA.  There will be a webinar on this project next week, Jan 24. If you want to register and participate, click here.  This will also be available for viewing after the webinar.
  • Feb 2-4, 2012 Missouri Organic Conference in St. Louis.  Some great speakers will be here including Jeff Moyers Farm Director at he Rodale Institute.  Learn more about it here.
  • Arkansas Marketready Training in Little Rock.  The deadline to register is next week, January 25th.  You can register on-line by Jan. 25 here.
