Earlier this year, USDA launched its Organic Literacy Initiative: the first step in understanding organic certification.  The Initiative includes self-paced training modules, outreach materials, and a guide to organic and organic-related USDA programs.

Learning more about specific types of organic production: crops, livestock, or processed products, is the next step for prospective organic operations.  A common question is, what changes would need to be made to go organic?  The following four guides are now available to answer this important question.

The four guides describe the relevant organic requirements, provide best practices, and further explain the certification process, providing helpful information for both beginning farmers and current organic operations looking to adopt new management approaches. Click on the guide for a link.
